Subject: GIF: Succulent Plant - Faucaria Author: RIch Kroll Uploaded By: RKroll Date: 4/8/1997 File: CACT008.GIF (195799 bytes) Estimated Download Time (53797 baud): < 1 minute Download Count: 749 Equipment: VGA Needs: A GIF Viewer Keywords: Kroll, Blossom, Flower, Super VGA, DF, JD Type: Copyright I photographed this succulent while it was in flower in my greenhouse. It is called a mimicry plant (Mesembryanthemum), because the leaves look like something other than a plant. In this case, they look like the jaws of a tiger which is why it is called "tiger jaws". Since Faucaria is native to the southern hemisphere (South Africa), it flowers in our fall usually sometime in September.
